True Frontier

Game servers and private cloud, built in Adelaide

We host game servers, business infrastructure, and complete IT services on enterprise hardware we own, in racks we can walk to. Your data stays in South Australia under Australian law, looked after by the same people who built the platform.

About

True Frontier is a private cloud built, owned, and operated in Adelaide, South Australia. We host game servers, business infrastructure, and everything in between on hardware we own, connected by dedicated enterprise fibre. No reselling, no offshore data centres, no mystery about where your data lives.

The platform runs OpenStack on enterprise HP servers, with Ceph storage keeping three copies of every byte and full encryption at rest. Backups happen in three layers, from self-service snapshots down to off-cluster copies on separate storage, and we test our restores every year. It's the same class of infrastructure the big providers run, at a scale where we know every machine by name.

We build on free and open source software from the network edge to the dashboard, so nothing we run can lock you in or vanish behind a licence change. And because the whole operation sits in Adelaide, your data stays in Australia under Australian law, and the people answering your questions are the same people running the racks.

Services

Game servers hosted in Adelaide, which means low ping for Australian and New Zealand players. We currently run Valheim, Minecraft, Rust, Satisfactory, Factorio (including Krastorio 2 and Space Exploration), Space Engineers, Empyrion, Rising World, and Quake Live, and we're happy to stand up something new. Every server gets a direct public address, a web control panel for your admins, and automatic backups. When something breaks at 11pm, there's a Discord with real humans in it.

Virtual machines, storage, and private networks on our OpenStack cloud, available on demand through a dashboard or the standard OpenStack APIs, so tools like Terraform work out of the box. Block, object, and file storage all live on encrypted, triple-replicated Ceph. Public IPv6 comes standard and dedicated IPv4 is available when you need it. Your workloads never leave South Australia.

Complete IT for small businesses: we plan it, deploy it, and keep it running, from private file sharing and video calls through to websites and custom applications. We also consult on security and privacy, auditing the accounts and services your business has accumulated over the years, hardening what you keep, closing what you don't, and building recovery plans you've actually rehearsed. If you'd rather your data lived on servers in Adelaide than in someone else's country, you're in the right place.

Portfolio

We provide full IT services to The Rundle Collective, an artist-run studio community of more than sixty creatives in the Adelaide CBD, along with Simmonds and Fray Productions and Studio 19 Days. Several other clients prefer not to be named, and we respect that. Discretion is part of the service.

On the gaming side, we run persistent worlds across our lineup, from heavily modded Factorio playthroughs to long-running Valheim and Space Engineers servers. Communities organise through our Discord, admins get proper control panels, and every world is backed up so a bad update never costs anyone their base.
